How to Become a Member of our Church
Church of the Advent welcomes our visitors and hopes they will enjoy our worship, fellowship, and opportunities to know Christ and make Him known. Some visitors may wish to join right away, and others may like to visit a few months before joining officially. If you are ready to become an official new member, please know:
- Any baptized person can be a member of Church of the Advent because baptized people are members of the Body of Christ regardless of the denomination or congregation in which they were baptized.
- If you are not baptized, speak to Father Tom to discuss your faith and your wish to become baptized…regardless of age. We have baptisms several times a year, and we would be happy to have you baptized here!
- If you are baptized and/or a confirmed Episcopalian, but your official records are not on file at Church of the Advent, we can contact your former church (with your help) and get a copy of your baptism and/or confirmation and transfer your record here.
- If you are not confirmed, which is our ceremony for an adult profession of faith, please discuss your desire for confirmation with Father Tom. If you were confirmed in another denomination, that confirmation will be “received” by our bishop at a Confirmation ceremony.
In any case, help us learn more about you by completing a Welcome Card found in each pew. Just fill it out and drop it in the offering plate. Someone from the church will contact you to answer any questions you may have.
Please contact the church office for questions on membership transfer or to make an appointment to visit with Father Tom about membership and faith. Call 615-373-5630.
