Annual Giving
Stewardship at Church of the Advent is about deepening our faith and relationship with Jesus Christ by sharing the blessings God has given us. The mission of the Stewardship Committee is to encourage and facilitate our duty as Christians to work, pray, and give for the spread of the Kingdom of God.
A principal function of the committee is to conduct the annual pledge campaign for the following year, which encourages parishioners to pledge a percentage of their income to Church of the Advent and to work towards tithing. Your donations are the principal source of the Advent Parish income. Your pledge is critical to the fulfillment our mission and helps us plan our ministries for the coming year.
Stewardship is a way of life that reflects a thankful response to and a respectful use of God’s bounty.

Gifts of Cash
The worship offering is the most traditional method of making a gift to God’s work at our Church. When every worshipper makes a gift from the heart, we become a community of givers blessed in worship. Even if you make your gifts by electronic transfer or stock transfer, making a small cash offering at every worship service bonds us all together as a community. To ensure your cash gifts are credited to your account, please use an offering envelope.
IMPORTANT TAX NOTE: All cash donations to charities must now be supported by a dated bank record or a dated receipt. To receive your tax credit for cash gifts, you MUST put the cash gift in an offering envelope.
Gift by Check
When making a gift by check, please indicate how you want the gift applied (annual giving 2008, UTO, etc.) on the comments line.
Stock Transfer
Stock gifts may be made by direct electronic transfer (DTC). Download the Stock Transfer Instructions. Please notify your broker of your intended gift transfer. Please contact the Finance Office at the Church immediately after you have made your DTC transfer so we can assure proper receipt of your intended gift.
You can also send your unendorsed stock certificates to Church of the Advent by registered mail. In a separate envelope, mail a signed stock power form to Church of the Advent for each certificate. Sign your name on the stock power EXACTLY as it appears on the stock certificate. Please include instructions indicating the purpose of the gift. The postmark on the registered mail envelope will be recorded as the date of the gift. These measures are taken for safety and security reasons.
