“According to the grace of God given to me,
like a skilled master builder
I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it.
Each builder must choose with care how to build on it.”
1 Corinthians 3:10
Christian stewardship involves the faithful management of all the gifts God has given to humankind – time, talents, the created world and money, including accumulated, inherited and appreciated assets.
Enable us to joyfully “walk into the future with Christ” as we fulfill our mission at the Church of the Advent.
Giving
Christian stewardship is grateful and responsible use of God’s gifts in the light of God’s purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ. Christian stewards, empowered by the Holy Spirit, commit themselves to conscious, purposeful decisions. Stewardship is lived out in living and telling the Good News; hearing God in seeking justice, peace, and the integrity of creation in an interdependent universe; wisely employing God-given human resources, abilities, and relationships; sharing the material resources we hold and giving them in service justice, and compassion; providing for future generations, sharing in the life, worship, and responsible stewardship of the Church and of its mission. Both for the individual and for the community, stewardship is a joyful act for the sake of God’s world.
If you would like to make a pledge to Church of the Advent, please contact Lisa Gray. Additionally, you can submit your committment to us here.
Why should I pledge?
Pledging is always an individual decision. However, to provide the services essential to its mission, a parish must have a stable source of income. Without a base of pledges, the vestry and clergy cannot plan for the basic activities of the parish. Pledging is a way that individuals participate fully in the life and health of the parish. But the most important reason for pledging is the joy that it brings to the pledger. As we give money to Christ’s church, we are giving back only a portion of what God has given us, and expressing our gratitude to God in a very tangible and meaningful way. Through our pledges, we are providing the means for bringing Christ to others, the greatest gift we can give.
Vestry stewardship statement
We believe God is the source of all gifts, spiritual and material, and that God has blessed us abundantly. Our faithful response, in gratitude, is to be givers and creators ourselves. We believe that all we have has been given to us by God. We believe the way we use our money and time reflects the state of our spiritual lives and that stewardship is a pathway for spiritual growth. It is our responsibility and our privilege to return a share of these gifts to God.
We commit to expanding our faith through regular and faithful worship, and to give in proportion to God’s abundance in our lives. We commit to joyfully and sacrificially supporting God’s work in the world and in this parish by making an annual financial commitment in proportion to our income.
We invite you to join us in this journey of faith, embrace these commitments, and celebrate with us the sharing of God’s abundance.
