Church of the Advent’s Fellowship Retreat is upon us! Anyone who has participated in the past will attest to the fun and good fellowship that are the hallmarks of this weekend. This year we will be meeting April 21-23 at the DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle, TN. There will be a Saturday morning gathering and time for worship as well as opportunities for walks and hiking, shopping, and meals together both at DuBose and a local restaurant. This is a time for conversation and community and a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your Advent family. Motel-style rooms are available at DuBose for Friday and Saturday night. Invite your co-workers, neighbors, friends, and family to join us for Church of the Advent’s all–you–can–eat Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner Tuesday, February 28, 5:30–7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children, or $20 per family maximum.
It’s Super Bowl time again and you know what that means . . . Chili, of course, and football if you have been looking forward to the big game. So get the crock pots fired up and bring your signature chili Sunday, February 5 after the 10:30 a.m. service and compete for one of the three $25 prizes. The three categories are: Hottest, Most Unique, and Best All-Round. Please drop your chili off in the Moss Room Sunday morning. It will be kept warm until the sampling begins after the 10:30 a.m. service. All members of Advent are urged to attend the cook-off and vote for your favorites in each category. As always, the Men’s Club Cooking Team will be preparing its awesome house chili. This will be available for lunch during the competition. No reservations are required, and even if you don’t enter your favorite chili, please plan to attend this unique event to sample some very diverse chili recipes.

We’re happy to announce that the following ministries have agreed to be part of our 3rd Annual Alternative Christmas: Thistle Farms, Room In The Inn, and East Nashville Hope Exchange. Adventers will have the opportunity to make donations to these organizations in honor or memory of someone.
Join us in the parish hall Friday, October 21, 6:30—9:00 p.m. for another evening of fellowship! Those with a festive streak are invited to wear their favorite costume. Bring a friend and your favorite appetizer and beverage. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to experience the fellowship and friendship of Church of the Advent. Childcare is available by contacting the church office no later than Monday, October 17.

The menu will be Peg Leg Porker BBQ, kielbasa, chicken, and sides. There will be a bake sale for dessert and we will have a bountiful silent auction.

Pre-order Whole Pork Butts
Contact the church office to pre-order cooked whole pork butts. Advance order cost is $45 each.; deadline is Wednesday, September 21. Pork butts ordered the day of the festival cost $55 with a two week delivery time. They freeze great for up to a year, so order plenty!
